Tom is a board member of the International Association of Innovation Professionals (IAOIP), an IAOIP-Certified Manager of Innovation (CMI), and an IAOIP-Certified Chief Innovation Officer (CMI-CIO). In 2019 he became an ANSI-appointed member of the Technical Advisory Group (TAG) representing the United States on the ISO Technical Committee 279, charged with creating the ISO 56000 series of Innovation Management standards. Tom is also a Gartner© Innovation Cohort, advising Gartner Analysts on Innovation Management best practices. At ICS, Brazil Leads the ICS Labs division for Innovation Research & Development and chairs the ICS Innovation Council.
A lifelong innovator, Brazil led the technical innovation team for 21 years at Systar, an innovative French software company dedicated to creating entirely new business performance software markets. Before working at Systar, Brazil worked at Unisys, where he developed and implemented urgent wartime innovations during the first Gulf War that led to a commendation from the U.S. Congress.
He is the author of the book “Implementing an Agile Innovation Management System”; and a contributor to the renowned PMI expert Dr. Harold Kerzner for his book “Innovation Project Management.” Tom is a frequent speaker at DoD-focused innovation and technology conferences and has consulted at 10 of the world’s top 15 financial institutions. His focus is educating innovation leaders on the processes necessary to implement dynamically-adaptive innovation portfolio governance, which ensures that organizations can rapidly pivot their innovation portfolios in alignment with organizational objectives to adjust to the increasing pace of technological change.
A veteran of the United States Air Force, Tom and his wife Katie live in Alabaster, Alabama.
